Maimonides Geriatric Centre is recruiting skilled volunteers for its Paraprofessional Volunteer Program. Work alongside professional staff in social services, therapeutic recreation, art activities, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, volunteer services, administration, information technology, or fundraising. Education and training is offered through weekly lectures and workshops. Volunteers must commit 4-6 hours per week with personalized schedules available. Our Harbour Volunteers **
Our Harbour, a South Shore Supportive Housing project for the mentally ill is seeking volunteers.
Tasks may include friendly visits with residents or acting as a community liaison. If you’re interested in volunteering, contact Perveen Khokhar at 415-671-9160.
Feline rescuers need your help
Cause-4-Paws helps abandoned, homeless and feral cats and kittens. With no outside funding, this organization is in urgent need of donations to cover veterinarian bills for blood tests, vaccinations, sterilization, and other medical treatments.
Donations of humane live traps, baskets, cat litter, cat food and small pet carriers are also appreciated.
Cause-4-Paws is always looking for temporary foster homes to care for cats and kittens until permanent adoptive homes are found. Call 514-684-4810
Promote autonomous eating
The Jewish Eldercare Centre is seeking volunteers for their Eating Assistance Program. The program encourages residents who have trouble feeding themselves to eat on their own, preser ving their autonomy.
Volunteers receive training and a certificate of achievement. Volunteers should make a two-hour weekly commitment for six months and have a friendly attitude.
