The Importance of Being Verity at Dawson

Written by Victoria Caputo, Mathilde Rousseau, Cate Dunsby, Nadia Trudel, and Jeff Gandell, and directed by Jeff Gandell, this original comedy is loosely inspired by Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest. When Dawson College gets rid of its men’s hockey team, Jack has no choice but to disguise himself as Verity and play for the women’s team.

The Dawson Theatre Collective (DTC)is made up of students from programs outside professional theatre. Proceeds go to The Theresa Foundation, a Montreal-based charity devoted to improving the lives of grandmothers and orphaned children of AIDS victims in Malawi and Gender Creative Kids, a Montreal-based charity offering support, training, and workshops to create safe spaces for transgender, non-binary, and gender creative kids.

Performances are May 8, 9, and 11 at 8pm at Dawson Theatre, 2000 Atwater, $15. Students & Seniors $10.
