All books, CDs and movies donated to Sun Youth get a second life at our bookstore. Open to the public, profits finance Sun Youth emergency services programs.

At the heart of the bookstore are volunteers Claudette Toutant and Kea Sénécal. Tuesday to Thursday, they share their love for books, music and movies. For Claudette, who started at Sun Youth in 2010, volunteering has become a way of life.

“Sun Youth has become a second home for me, » she says. “I enjoy the atmosphere and the human contact I get there. There is such a diversity of cultures and ethnic origins. I find it’s a constant source of personal enrichment.”

She says her love of books goes beyond reading. “Nice books with nice bindings are beautiful objects to look at and to manipulate. I see them as art.”

4251 St. Urbain. Open Tuesdays-Thursdays, 9:30 am to 12 pm; 1 to 3 pm. Books sell for as little as 15 cents and movies start at 50 cents.
