Start your day with the three Gs

by Thelma Gearey

The death of a parent, depression, losing your job, or surviving cancer can take a tremendous toll.

A dear friend, with whom I recently had lunch but hadn’t seen in 10 years, had gone through all of this. Her outlook was so strong and positive. I remarked that I admired her inner strength and she told me her secret was to start everyday with the three G’s:

1. Get up.
2. Get dressed.
3. Get out.

It could be going downstairs to check for your mail, or reading the morning newspaper in the lobby. Go out to your local café for a morning coffee. The idea is to get out. The dishes and dusting can wait till later.

Each day is an awesome gift.
