Neil McKentyPet Fest a roaring success
It was hard to say who was cuter, the kids or the dogs, at the Second Annual NDG Pet Fest, held by the Rosedale-Queen Mary United Church. Over 200 pet owners and animal lovers turned up to admire canines of all stripes sporting costumes in the pet parade, admire the beautiful horses brought by the Mounted Police, get acquainted with an owl and other birds of prey presented by the Ecomuseum and take part in the blessing of the pets in the Sanctuary.
Besides being a fundraiser for the church, the event also signaled an invitation to the community at large to join a new organization, Le Rep ère Uni NDG, that will have its inaugural meeting on Thursday November 15. Its objective is to manage the Community Halls of the church, with the vision to “maintain and improve facilities for the organizations that already have a home there, to involve local people in creating new activities, to meet unmet needs, and to consider new social enterprises and activities that raise funds and generate employment.”
