Messages of congratulations
from our elected officials for our 20th anniversary issue (October 2006)
I am delighted to extend my best wishes to The Senior Times on the occasion of its 20th anniversary. It is a well-known fact that we live longer than we used to. Accordingly, a paper such as The Senior Times fills a real need in addressing the issues of concern of a growing segment of the population. Having recently officially become a “senior” myself, I appreciate The Senior Times, as well as its Resource Directory, which contains useful and handy information on a variety of subjects.
All my congratulations to the team, and many happy returns to The Senior Times.
— Irwin Cotler, P.C., O.C., M.P., Mount Royal
I congratulate the editors, writers, and staff of The Senior Times on their 20 years of informing, engaging, and entertaining our community’s seniors. The Senior Times is an inspiring source of journalistic integrity and community advocacy. I have always admired your proactive approach to promoting healthy retirement living, and how, each and every month, you publish stories that truly matter to West Island seniors. Congratulations on all your success. I wish you the very best in the future.
— Francis Scarpaleggia, M.P./Depute, Lac-Saint-Louis

MNA Salutes Seniors
I am pleased to convey my best wishes for your 20th anniversary. A newspaper is like a living organism. It develops constantly in lively response to the changing social, political and commercial environment. Yet, it cannot survive if it abandons its fundamental beliefs and values.
The anniversary you celebrate today represents the acknowledgment of a long, vibrant and eventful life. It is more than just a celebration of the success of a business venture. It is an occasion to reflect on the essence of the newspaper — the qualities that have enabled it to grow as an institution and serve the community and the seniors for so long.
I take this opportunity to salute all our seniors on the occasion of International Seniors Day on October 1st for their important role in society and their multi-dimensional effort to build future generations. The Senior Times changes but has been constant in its commitment to provide reliable news and information to the community for the past 20 years. Happy 20th anniversary!
