Barbara, you gave us an opportunity to write about Generations Foundation while at the same time, we could infuse our personal lives into our charity’s storied tales with some of the monthly themes.
I started writing for the ST back in 2009 putting thoughts down and then had to have them trimmed. I confess to waiting until the last moment to write my article because an idea had not yet come to fruition. Most people agree, The Senior Times is a true reflection of our society and grass roots in Montreal and we at Generations Foundation are pleased to be part of it.
Resourceful Barbara: We met Barbara in the early 1990s through the Old Brewery Mission while Adrian Bercovici was Executive Director (1992-1999). She always had a big heart! She delivered socks, shaving cream, lipsticks and more for the men and women and if she did not have it, she knew where to get it.

Barbara adapted to our new reality at Generations Foundation where we now nourish thousands of hungry children daily. She hunts for gifts for teenaged moms and we in turn help her fill her suitcases with items to be appreciated by families in Cuba and Ecuador.
Barbara the humanitarian: She reached out to us and to her acquaintances to invite us into her home to join her Friday night gatherings for songs and stories. There we met her young daughters and enjoyed seeing Barbara and Irwin’s now grown and talented children at a recent holiday gathering. We are proud to count ourselves among her friends to celebrate The Senior Times 30th Anniversary. To Barbara, Irwin, and staff at The Senior Times, Mazel Tov! We wish you many more successful anniversaries.
