Collective gardeners celebrate
Action communiterre will celebrate its 10th Anniversary, as well as another season of collective gardening, Saturday September 8 from 4 pm to 6:30 pm in the Cantaloupe Garden at the back of the YMCA-NDG, 4335 Hampton (near Monkland Ave. and the Villa-Maria Metro).
The yearly Harvest party brings together  gardeners of the Victory Garden Network with people interested in this food security alternative.
The celebration will include a walking tour to discover NDG treasures at 1:30 pm from Villa-Maria metro. There will be activities for the family including a tour of the Cantaloupe garden, the 10 th anniversary testimonial table,  live music with Felement and Soul Stream, awareness-raising activities for a zero-waste event in collaboration with the Decarie-Loyola Éco-Quartier and a meal prepared using harvest as well as food donations.
Again this year, the network of 10 gardens and 150 gardeners have collectively grown vegetables and contributed to food security by distributing a portion of the harvest to community groups, among them, NDG Food Depot and Auberge Transition.
Action Communiterre is a non-profit organization that aims to reinforce social solidarity, contribute to local food security and improve access to healthy food through collective gardening.
