Re-discovering home cooking
To mark Nutrition Month, Dietitians of Canada has released a new cookbook featuring 250 healthy recipes to encourage Canadians to re-discover the joy of delicious home-cooked meals.
“Our task in authoring Simply Great Food was to provide recipes that are easy-to-prepare and nutritionally balanced without sacrificing great taste and pure eating pleasure,” says co-author and chef Eileen Campbell.
According to Dietitians of Canada, Canadians only spend about 20 minutes a day preparing dinner. Time is the biggest obstacle to preparing healthy meals, with 50% of Canadians finding it difficult to include healthier food options on a daily basis.
Simply Great Food offers so much more than just great easy-to-prepare recipes,” says dietitian and co-author Mary Sue Waisman. “It also offers valuable information about the essentials of great nutrition in a comprehensive and easy-to-understand manner.
“Within its pages we provide a wealth of information on eating well, how to make sense of food labels, what nutrition claims really mean and how to prepare and store food safely.”
