Buy pottery at Empty Bowls events to help feed the hungry

webEmpty Bowls is a great way to help feed the hungry, enjoy a tasty lunch, and take home a hand-crafted piece of pottery, all for $25.

It started more than 20 years ago as a classroom project in a Michigan high school and has grown into a worldwide movement.

All are invited to participate from 11 am to 2 pm on Saturday, April 13, at the Unitarian Church of Montreal, 5035 de Maisonneuve, and Sunday, April 14 at Dorshei Emet Reconstructionist Congregation, 18 Cleve, Hampstead.

Each bowl is a unique creation donated by potters. Participants can fill it with and enjoy homemade soup and bread. Participants often purchase several bowls.

Last year, the twin events raised a total of $23,500, with the money divided among local organizations that support the hungry.

This year, contributions benefit the N.D.G. Food Depot, Multi-Caf, St. Michael’s Mission, Santropol Roulante and the Hanukah Food Basket Fund at Dorshei Emet.
