Black History Month Events
Throughout February, the Atwater Library will hold events in honor of Black History Month. An evening program Tuesday, February 20 will celebrate Canadian Blacks making history today.
Also on the program is a reading of “Colored Pictures in Family Frames” by Dr. Dolores Sandoval, narrated by Dr. Dorothy Williams, and the launch and sale of Who’s Who in Black Canada, 2nd ed. Posters by the Afro-Canadian Contemporary Art Foundation will be sold to benefit the Atwater Library. The evening begins 6:30 pm.
Events continue Wednesday, February 28 with “Haitians in Quebec: A Little More of the Story,” a variety show hosted by Maguy Métellus at 12:30 pm. The Atwater Library has a specialty black collection including books by black authors and poets and books on black history and culture. The library is located at 1200 Atwater Ave.,  corner Tupper.
