These stores really deliver!
by Kristine Berey
At the time of this writing, it is an unseasonably balmy day. But as darkness falls, the rain begins and there’s a pinch in the air that says snow isn’t far away.
Hail or wind, sleet or snow may not daunt the postman, but it sure affects seniors. If the day is mild it’s not too bad, and may even be beautiful to behold. But when temperatures drop, that white blanket turns to ice, proving that hell does freeze over.
Here are a few stores that make those miserable days, when you can’t go out and get your groceries, just a little less miserable. Call them up, preferably early in the day, and tell them what you need. Some stores will send your food the same day, some will send someone to take your order and deliver it the next day. Although most grocery stores will deliver your order if you trek to the store, with these establishments food is just a phone call away. The delivery charge you will pay is well worth the convenience.

We need your suggestions for a future article on the most senior-friendly grocery stores in Montreal.
If you have a favourite place to shop, we’d love to hear about it.
Is the staff polite and helpful?
Do they have most things you need? Is their food fresh and of high quality? Are their prices reasonable?
Do they have chairs by the door in case a senior needs to sit down for a while before leaving the store? If not, ask the manager for them and show him or her this article.
Email your suggestions to: editor@theseniortimes.com or The Senior Times, 4077 Decarie Blvd. Montreal, H4A 3J8.
