Atwater Library features Books Roadshow, poetry readings

Wed. Sept 14, 4-7pm: Antiquarian booksellers Wilfrid de Freitas and Susan Ravdin are conducting a Books Roadshow in support of the Atwater Library. They will be in the Library reading room to give an expert opinion on the value of books. First come, first served. $3 per book for Atwater Library members and $4  for non-members.

Thurs. Sept 15, 12:30pm: For the Atwater Library Lunchtime Series, Barbara Lewis performs her new concert, MY CANADA: Singing the Soul of a Country, a tribute to Canada’s 150th birthday in 2017. The show features Canadian songs from Joni Mitchell, Claude Dubois, Stompin’ Tom Connors, Leonard Cohen and others. Sing-alongs too. Donation requested.

Tues. Sept 20, 1- 3pm: Atwater Library Alzheimer Café features a talk by Dr. Brigitte Gilbert, neuropsychologist at Institut Universitaire de Gériatrie de Montréal, on highlighting cognitive abilities despite Alzheimer’s disease. Co-hosted with the Alzheimer Society of Montreal, sessions are held on the third Tuesday of the month with refreshments. Donation requested.

Thurs. Sept. 22, 12:30pm: Atwater Library Lunchtime Series: Nancy Dunton gives on illustrated talk on Montreal architecture, drawing from the book she co-authored with Helen Malkin, Guidebook to Canadian Architecture in Montreal. Donation requested.

Thurs. Sept. 22, 7pm: The Atwater Poetry Project presents readings by Steven Ross Smith and Tanya Evanson, curated by Deanna Radford. Donation requested.

Thurs. Sept. 29, 12:30pm: For the Atwater Library Lunchtime Series, award-winning author and historian Ross King gives an illustrated presentation of his new book Mad Enchantment: Claude Monet and the Painting of Water Lilies. Donation requested.

Thurs. Sept 29, 7pm: Atwater Poetry Project presents readings by Richard Kelly Kemick and Katherine Leyton. Presented in collaboration with the University of New Brunswick’s annual Poetry Weekend.  Donation requested.
