Women’s Club celebrates 100th
The Women’s Canadian Club of Montreal welcomes new members as it celebrates its 100th Anniversary. Former Deputy Secretary-General of the UN, Louise Fr échette gives a lecture November 19.
The Gala Anniversary Luncheon December 12 is open to members only.
Annual membership fees are $40, but non-members can attend individual lectures for $10.
Lectures begin at 12:30 pm at The Unitarian Church, 5035 de Maisonneuve West.

Art & wine at the Pointe-Claire Cultural Centre
The Pointe-Claire Cultural Centre offers a number of workshops this November and December, Among them are several art and design workshops, as well as a series of wine tastings.
Learn how to integrate technology gathered images or old photographs into your art at Easy Image Transfers, November 10.
Glazing with Acrylic, November 24, will help you bring the glow, depth and luster of traditional oil paintings to your acrylic work.
Combine many elements and materials to arrive at an integrated final product at Mixed Media with Acrylic, December 1.
Monoprinting, December 8, will show you how to use common materials and simple printmaking techniques without a press. Art and design workshops are Saturdays, 10 am to 4 pm, and cost $33 plus $35 for materials. The centre’s wine tasting workshops cover a variety of grapes and flavor combinations.
Sample rich and unctuous white wines, served with cheese and foie gras at Sauternes, November 15. Cost is $20 plus $69 for wine and hors d ’oeuvres.
Taste wines from the Côte-du-Rhône region, where more than 13 varieties of grape grow in gravel, at Châteauneuf-du-Pape, November 22. Cost is $20 plus $49 for wines.
Enjoy an autumn feast of six servings and seven wines at Venison and Wine, November 29. On the menu: venison, small game, and varieties of wild game. Cost is $20 plus $79 for meal and wines. Wine tastings are Thursdays, 7 to 10 pm.
