Animatch: the adoption option
Hélene Lacroix, founder of Animatch, is concerned about the rising number of abandoned animals in the Montreal area. “In general, Canadians keep their pets for only two years before getting rid of them,” she says.
At Animatch, a non-profit organization devoted to finding homes for abandoned dogs, the motto is “the dog is the client.” The organization takes time to match adoptable pets with potential owners, resulting in a 97% placement success rate, with only 3% of the dogs being returned to the centre. No dog is given out without being spayed or neutered.
If you are thinking of adopting a dog, but are afraid of what you may be getting into, Animatch can pair you with a pet that suits your lifestyle, temperament and energy level. If you are a senior who must part with a beloved dog because of a change in residence, Animatch can help.
“Seniors who must give up their pets can rest assured that we will find their dog a good home,” Lacroix says. Animatch is entirely run by volunteers. If you want to pitch in, call (450) 452-0321 visit www.animatch.ca
